About Camp
On the exterior, the American Cancer Society's Camp Rainbow Gold appears to be just like any other summer camp…fishing, hiking, camp fires and yummy food! But on the contrary, Camp Rainbow Gold is far from similar to other camps. Affectionately referred to as the happiest place on earth, Camp Rainbow Gold is a haven for children ages six through 17 who have been diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Camp Rainbow Gold allows children the opportunity to experience the joys of summer camp in a safe and beautiful environment.

Administered by the American Cancer Society, Camp Rainbow Gold was established 23 years ago when a compassionate and amazing man, Dr. Dave McClusky, put the wheels in motion for one of the first children's oncology camps in the country. Held annually in August at Cathedral Pines in Ketchum, Idaho, Camp Rainbow Gold truly is a celebration of life! The week provides nearly 75 cancer survivors with an escape from the rigors of their illness. Due to the generosity of so many Idaho residents and major fundraising events orchestrated by wonderful volunteers, this unique camp is provide without cost to campers and their families. Additionally, camp is attended by a full medical staff and a licensed social worker in an effort to ensure the children are supported both medically and emotionally. Camp staff and volunteers are highly trained and aim to provide a fun, safe and caring community for the children.
