Sibling Camp

Who: Children ages 6-17 who are siblings of children who have been diagnosed with cancer
When: July 17-22, 2011
Where: Cathedral Pines

Siblings of children diagnosed with cancer also experience a strong emotional and social impact. Oftentimes, siblings feel overlooked as the parents and other family members turn their attention to treatment and other considerations that coincide with a cancer diagnosis. Just as the child with cancer needs support, attention and care, so do their strongest supporters — their brothers and sisters.

Camp Rainbow Gold Sibling Camp plays hosts to approximately 60 siblings of Idaho children who have been diagnosed with cancer during some point in their lives. Over the course of several days, the attention turns to these children who also need the chance to have fun and make friends with other children who understand them.

Two children from each family may attend Camp Rainbow Gold Sibling Camp each summer. If there are additional children in the family who are interested in attending, they will be added to a waiting list.

Sibling camp is great because my kids always say that their sister is the special one. Even though she takes a lot of my time, they are all special to me.
